A great summer season

Posted on Oct 19, 2012

I have just finished a great summer season.

Our jazz trio, (Nigel Goss on bass , Peter Watrous on electric guitar and me on nylon string guitar) played two nights a week at the Chanticleer and it was a tremendous experience for all of us. Peter chose challenging and fun music and we performed several of my original pieces. It was a creative shot in the arm and I found myself inspired to focus more on my composing. I discovered a more fluid sense of possibility and sureness of line in my writing than ever before and am excited to be able to share my work with you here on my website.

As fall begins and the island settles down I find myself writing a string quartet and reading the scores of Shostakovitch and Bernard Herrmann (Psycho, Taxi Driver, Twilight Zone). My recent experience has been that if I write something good, someone will buy it so my plan for the winter is to finish some quality pieces.

Every Thursday night you can catch me playing classic Blue Note style jazz and Chicago blues in my band Earth Got the Blues at the Rose and Crown.

I am currently booking events for 2013. I offer solo guitar, duo cello and guitar with vocals, bass, cello and guitar and small bands that range from blues to jazz contact me if you would like more information about music for your event.

As always, private lessons on guitar, bass and ukulele are available.
