It has been a busy winter.
I wrote and recorded original jazz for a White Heron play production called God of Carnage in January. This was more of a challenge than I expected because jazz is such an open ended term. It means different things to different people. I finally ended up not worrying about that and writing the kind of music I would want to hear. I’m happy to say White Heron was very pleased with the results. I’ll post a clip soon.
In March I had the real pleasure writing and recording the original score for a fantastic short documentary film, Answering the Call, by Emily Fraser and my old Here and Now Films buddy, Edward Symes.
I also contributed music to a short film called Driving by Alexandra Aliveris and Henry Weiner.
The end of April has me in guitar player mode, backing up my brother Ben for shows in Raleigh, North Carolina on April 24 and Roanoke, Virginia on April 28.
I am happy to report that the Chanticleer, in beautiful downtown ‘Sconset, is having my jazz trio back for another season. The trio consists of me on nylon string guitar, Peter Watrous on electric guitar and Nigel Goss on acoustic bass. We will be starting in June so please come out and see us!
